rPET Supply for Sheikhupura Fibre & Textile Plants: Grades, Testing and Reliable Monthly Supply

Sheikhupura’s industrial belt — between Lahore and Faisalabad — is home to fibre, yarn and textile plants that run on a steady feed of raw material. For those that use recycled PET, the hard part is rarely one good delivery; it is getting the same quality every month. Here is how to choose the right grade, accept lots consistently and build supply that holds through winter.

Key takeaways

  • Match the grade to the product: clear hot-washed for white and light-dyed fibre, coloured for dark and dope-dyed products.
  • Consistency matters more than any single lot — agree spec limits and test every delivery the same way.
  • Moisture and PVC are the two properties most likely to cause breaks and rejects.
  • Plan winter supply in advance: bottle collection drops and good flake gets tighter.
  • A nearby supplier with one accountable chain — collection to dispatch — makes problems traceable and fixable.

Sheikhupura sits on some of Punjab’s busiest industrial corridors — the Lahore–Sheikhupura road, the Sheikhupura–Faisalabad road and the M-2 — with Quaid-e-Azam Business Park and a wide spread of textile, fibre and manufacturing units. Recycled polyester fibre made from post-consumer PET bottles is a major input for spinning, nonwovens and filling, and plants that use it need the same thing every month: flake that runs the same way as the last lot.

We supply hot-washed clear and coloured rPET flakes from Okara to fibre, textile and packaging manufacturers, including the Sheikhupura area. This guide sets out how to buy flake for a fibre plant without surprises.

Match the grade to what you make

Your productUsual flake choiceWhy
White or light-dyed staple fibre and yarnClear, hot-washedColour and cleanliness show directly in the fibre
Dark or dope-dyed fibreColoured (green, blue, brown) or mixed, hot-washedColour is covered; cost matters more
Filling fibre, nonwovensClear or coloured depending on end useSpecs can be less strict, but contamination still causes problems

Whatever the grade, hot washing removes the glue and residues that cause trouble in melt spinning — see hot-washed vs cold-washed flakes. How grades are named and priced in the market is in rPET flake grades explained and PET flakes price in Pakistan.

The properties that cause trouble on a fibre line

  • Moisture — wet flake loses viscosity in extrusion, leading to breaks and weak fibre. Dry flake, dry storage and proper pre-drying are essential.
  • PVC — degrades in the melt: black specks, filter blockages, discoloured fibre. It sinks with PET, so it needs real control at the recycler.
  • PP/PE, labels and glue — cause unmelted particles and breaks.
  • IV — affects spinnability; what matters most is that it stays within your agreed range lot to lot.
  • Colour consistency — shade differences between lots mean re-adjusting dye recipes.

Our in-depth guide to rPET for polyester fibre mills covers why each matters; the COA guide explains how each is reported.

Accept every lot the same way

Consistency at your gate is how you get consistency from your supplier. Agree in writing the spec limits, the test method for each, how samples are taken and who keeps a retained sample, and what happens to an off-spec lot. Then check every delivery with the same quick routine — visual check, float test for PP/PE, moisture, a heat screen for PVC — and send samples to a lab for IV and PVC when needed. Our mill gate checklist sets the routine out step by step; it works the same in Sheikhupura as in Faisalabad.

Monthly supply that holds through winter

PET bottle collection drops in the colder months, so flake supply tightens and rates usually firm up — exactly when many mills are running hard. To avoid a mid-season gap:

  1. Agree a monthly volume early with a supplier who can show where its bottles come from.
  2. Keep a small buffer of dry, well-stored flake if your storage allows.
  3. Review price at set intervals rather than chasing spot quotes week by week.
  4. Don’t trade spec for price in a tight month — off-spec flake costs more in downtime than it saves.

The winter pattern and buying tactics are covered in why rates rise in winter and timing your purchases.

Why a nearby, single-chain supplier helps

When collection, sorting, crushing, hot washing and dispatch happen under one roof, a quality problem can be traced back and fixed — rather than passed between traders. Being in Punjab also means shorter delivery times than imported material. At Shahbaz Traders that whole chain runs at our facility in Okara, with COA and TDS on request and samples available before your first order. We deliver to manufacturers across the Sheikhupura industrial belt — more on the Sheikhupura page.

Frequently asked questions

Which rPET flake grade is best for polyester staple fibre?
For white or light-dyed fibre and yarn, clear hot-washed flake with low PVC and moisture. For dark or dope-dyed fibre, coloured or mixed hot-washed flake is often suitable and more economical. Consistency between lots matters as much as the grade.
Do you supply rPET flakes to Sheikhupura?
Yes. Shahbaz Traders delivers hot-washed clear and coloured rPET flakes from Okara to fibre, textile and packaging manufacturers across the Sheikhupura industrial belt, with COA and TDS on request.
How can a fibre plant secure rPET supply through winter?
Agree a monthly volume with a reliable supplier before the season, keep a small buffer of dry, well-stored flake if possible, review price at set intervals, and avoid accepting off-spec flake just because it is cheaper.
What causes breaks when spinning recycled polyester?
The most common causes are moisture in the flake, PVC contamination, PP/PE or label residues, and IV outside the agreed range. A consistent acceptance routine at the gate catches most of these before they reach the line.
Can I get a sample before ordering?
Yes. Tell us your grade, volume and spec limits and we can send a sample with its COA so your team can test it before your first order.
