Key takeaways

  • There is no single “PET bottle rate today” — the rate per kg depends on how clean, dry and sorted your bottles are.
  • Clean, dry, clear bottles without caps and labels get the best rate; wet, mixed or dirty loads get deductions.
  • Online rate lists often contradict each other — use them as a rough guide, never as a promise.
  • Bigger, regular and baled loads usually earn a better rate than small loose ones.
  • The quickest way to a real number: send your quantity, bottle type and a photo on WhatsApp.

If you search for PET bottle rate today or plastic ka rate per kg, you will find lists of numbers that rarely match. That is not because everyone is lying — it is because “PET bottle scrap” covers very different material. A load of clean, dry, clear water bottles and a load of wet, mixed bottles with caps, labels and mud are both “bottles”, but a recycler can make very different flake from them, so they cannot carry the same rate.

We buy post-consumer PET bottles every day at our yard in Okara and from dealers across Punjab. This guide explains how a recycler actually prices your bottles, so you know what to expect and how to earn more for the same weight.

Why one “rate today” number doesn’t exist

When we checked several “scrap rate today” websites on 4 October 2026, one single page listed two very different ranges for the same item — clean PET bottles — roughly Rs 140–155/kg in one table and Rs 290–317/kg in another. Lists like these are often copied, out of date, or mix up bottles, crush and flakes. Use them as background, not as the price you will be paid.

What actually sets the rate is simple: how much clean PET a recycler can recover from your kilo. Every gram of water, cap, label, sand or non-PET plastic in the load is weight the recycler pays for but cannot sell. That is why the same kanta weight can be worth more or less.

Clean vs mixed: how bottle grades compare

Most buyers in Pakistan think about bottles in a few broad grades. The exact names vary by market, but the order of value is almost always the same:

GradeWhat it looks likeRate (relative)
Clear, clean, dryTransparent water and soft-drink bottles, emptied, dry, few labels and capsHighest
Clear with caps & labelsTransparent bottles straight from collection, caps and labels still onGood, minus a deduction for caps & labels
Coloured (green, blue, brown)Coloured soft-drink and other PET bottlesLower than clear — coloured flake has fewer uses
MixedClear and coloured together, some caps, labels and dirtLower — the recycler has to sort it
Wet, dirty or contaminatedWater inside, mud, oil bottles, other plastics mixed inLowest, with weight deductions

Five things that raise or lower your rate

What moves your PET bottle rate per kg

✓ Raises your rate

  • Clear bottles kept separate from coloured
  • Bottles emptied and dry
  • Caps and labels removed (or mostly removed)
  • Larger, regular loads — 1 ton and up
  • Baled or tightly bagged material

✗ Lowers your rate

  • Water left inside bottles
  • Mud, sand, food or oil residue
  • Other plastics mixed in (shoppers, PP tubs, HDPE)
  • Small one-off loose loads
  • Material stored in rain or sun for months
  1. Sort clear from coloured. This is the single easiest way to earn more. Clear flake goes into fibre, sheet and strapping; coloured flake has fewer buyers. A mixed bag gets paid at the lower end.
  2. Keep bottles dry. Water is weight. Most buyers deduct for wet loads, and many simply refuse loads that drip on the kanta. Store bottles under cover.
  3. Remove what isn’t PET. Caps (PP/HDPE), labels and shopping bags are not PET. If you can remove them cheaply, you keep more of the value.
  4. Build bigger loads. A recycler’s cost to weigh, handle and transport is similar for a small and a large load, so larger loads — from about 1 ton upwards — usually get a better rate.
  5. Bale or bag tightly. Baled bottles are easier to load and transport. If you sell regularly, a baling machine often pays for itself in rate and transport savings.

Why the rate changes week to week

Even for the same grade, rates move. The main drivers in Punjab are:

  • Demand from flake buyers — fibre mills, strapping and sheet makers. When their orders rise, recyclers compete harder for bottles.
  • Virgin PET and oil prices — recycled PET is priced against new (virgin) PET, so when virgin PET moves, bottle rates follow.
  • Season — bottle collection is highest in summer (more drinks are sold) and drops in winter, so rates usually firm up in the colder months. We explain this in why PET rates rise in winter and winter rates for Lahore suppliers.
  • Distance and transport — diesel and freight costs affect what a recycler can pay for material that has to travel.

That is why we never publish a fixed rate on this page. A number printed today would be wrong next week — and you would be right not to trust it.

How weighing and payment should work

A fair rate means nothing without fair weighing. Whoever you sell to, expect:

  • Weighing in front of you on a calibrated kanta, with the weight written down.
  • Deductions explained before — if there is a cut for water or dirt, you should be told why and how much, not discover it later.
  • Payment as agreed — on the day or on terms agreed in advance, with no surprises.

At our Okara yard we weigh in front of the seller and pay promptly. Our full process for sellers is in how to sell PET bottles in Pakistan.

Frequently asked questions

What is the PET bottle scrap rate per kg in Pakistan today?
It depends on the grade of your bottles. Clean, dry, clear bottles without caps and labels get the highest rate; coloured, mixed, wet or dirty bottles get less. Rates also move with demand, virgin PET prices and the season. WhatsApp your quantity and bottle type to +92 300 2504023 for today’s rate for your load.
Plastic ka rate kitna hai? (What is the plastic bottle rate?)
PET bottle ka rate bottle ki quality par depend karta hai — saaf, sookhi, clear bottles ka rate sab se zyada hota hai, geeli ya mix bottles ka kam. Aaj ka rate janne ke liye apni quantity aur bottle ki type WhatsApp karein: +92 300 2504023.
Why do different dealers quote different rates for the same bottles?
Dealers estimate how much clean PET they can recover from your load, and they have different costs, buyers and transport distances. Online rate lists are often outdated or mix up bottles, crush and flakes, so they rarely match what you are actually paid.
Do I get a lower rate if my bottles have caps and labels?
Usually yes, a small deduction. Caps and labels are not PET, so the recycler pays for weight it cannot turn into flake. Removing them — or at least keeping the load clean and dry — keeps more of the value with you.
Are clear bottles worth more than coloured bottles?
Yes. Clear PET flake is used in fibre, sheet, strapping and packaging, so it has more buyers. Coloured flake has fewer uses, so coloured bottles get a lower rate. Keeping clear and coloured separate is the easiest way to earn more.
What is the minimum quantity you buy?
We buy from about 1 ton up to full truckloads, and we can arrange collection for larger loads. Smaller quantities are welcome at our yard in Okara, Saturday to Thursday, 6am to 8pm (Friday closed).
