PET Bottle Crush Rate in Pakistan: Selling Crushed Bottles and Unwashed Flakes to a Recycler

If you crush PET bottles, your rate is decided before the bottles ever reach the blades. This guide is for crusher owners and dealers selling unwashed PET crush — what a recycler checks, what lowers your rate, and how to get paid well for every bag.

Key takeaways

  • Crush is priced by how much clean PET a washer can recover from it — the same logic as bottles, but harder to fix after crushing.
  • Sort before you crush: clear and coloured crushed together can only ever be sold as mixed.
  • Caps, rings and labels crushed in, wet crush and lots of fines all cut your rate.
  • Pack in clean, closed bags and keep crush dry — crush absorbs dirt and water easily.
  • Send a photo and quantity first; a recycler can tell a lot from a close-up of your crush.

Searches for PET bottle crush rate in Pakistan and pet bottle crush price per kg come mostly from people who have bought a granulator — or are thinking about it. Crushing makes bottles cheaper to store and transport, but it does not automatically make them worth more. A recycler buys crush to wash it into clean flake, so the rate depends on how good that crush is as a starting material.

At Shahbaz Traders we crush and hot-wash PET in Okara, and we buy bottles from across Punjab. If you already crush, here is how we — and most washers — look at your material.

What “crush” means to a buyer

Crush (unwashed PET flake) is bottles cut into small pieces with everything that came with them: labels, glue, caps and rings, dust and whatever was inside. A washer’s job is to remove all of that. The more of it there is, the more the washer loses — in weight, in chemicals and in time — and the lower the rate.

Once bottles are crushed, mistakes cannot be undone cheaply. You can pick a coloured bottle out of a clear pile in a second; picking green flakes out of clear crush is close to impossible. That is why sorting before crushing is the most important step for your rate.

What sets the crush rate

FactorBetter rateLower rate
ColourClear only (or a single colour)Clear and coloured crushed together
Caps & ringsRemoved before crushingCrushed in with the bottles
Labels & glueMostly removedFull labels crushed in
Other plasticsPET onlyOil bottles, PVC, PP tubs or shoppers mixed in
Moisture & dirtDry, stored under coverWet, muddy or stored outdoors
Fines & dustSharp blades, even sizeLots of powder from blunt blades

Market conditions then move the rate up or down for everyone — demand for flake, virgin PET prices and the season. We explain those in PET bottle scrap rate in Pakistan.

The PVC problem — and why it matters to you

A few PVC bottles (some cooking oil, shampoo or cleaning bottles) look like PET but are a different plastic. Crushed in with PET, PVC sinks with it in the wash tank and is very hard to separate. In fibre and sheet production even small amounts cause black specks and failures — so washers watch for it closely, and a PVC-contaminated lot can be rejected or heavily discounted. When sorting, keep oil and cleaning bottles out unless you are sure they are PET (look for the 1 / PET recycling mark on the base).

How to get a better rate for your crush

  1. Sort first. Clear separate from coloured. If you have enough green or blue, crush them as separate lots.
  2. Take caps and rings off. It is slow work but it lifts the value of the whole lot.
  3. Keep blades sharp. Blunt blades make powder (fines), which is lost in washing.
  4. Keep it dry and clean. Store bags under cover, off the ground.
  5. Pack consistently. Clean, closed bags of similar weight make weighing and checking quick.
  6. Build regular loads. Steady monthly volume is worth more to a recycler than an occasional one-off.

Should you crush at all?

Crushing pays when it saves you transport (crush is far denser than loose bottles) and when you sort well. It doesn’t pay if your bottles are mixed and you crush them anyway — you’ve spent electricity and blade wear to make material that is worth the same or less. If you’re still deciding whether a crusher is worth buying, read collect, bale or crush? — and if baling is enough for your volume, sorted baled bottles often sell just as well.

Frequently asked questions

What is the PET bottle crush rate in Pakistan?
It depends on the crush: clear and single-colour crush without caps, labels, other plastics, moisture or excess fines gets the best rate; mixed, wet or contaminated crush gets less. Market demand and the season also move the rate. Send a photo, colour, quantity and city to +92 300 2504023 for today’s rate.
Is crushed PET worth more than loose bottles?
Not automatically. Crush is cheaper to store and transport, but its value depends on how well the bottles were sorted before crushing. Mixed crush can be worth less than well-sorted baled bottles.
Should I remove caps before crushing PET bottles?
Yes, if you can. Caps and rings are PP or HDPE, not PET; crushed in, they add weight that the washer must separate and cannot sell as PET, so they lower your rate.
Why is PVC a problem in PET crush?
PVC looks like PET and sinks with it in the wash tank, so it is hard to separate. Even small amounts cause defects in fibre and sheet, so PVC-contaminated crush can be rejected or discounted. Keep oil and cleaning bottles out unless they carry the 1 / PET mark.
